Life has a way
of showing up unannounced
just when I’ve settled
into my reclining chair
with a book of poetry
Life knocks on my door
yesterday she came as a magician
in the guise of a six year-old
telling tales
of lives long lived
tasting rainbows
yet to appear
turning monsters
into toys
Life lifts me out of my chair
to dance on a cloud
to ride into a fairy tale
to hop scotch through time
Life
interrupt me
always
